Professional Graduate Program in Education

Research Lines

The program is focused on the area of “educational territories: diversity, policy, and pedagogical practices”. Its research is divided into the following lines:

Line 1 – Teacher Education and Pedagogical Practices

This research focuses on both theoretical and empirical studies, examining educational territories in their cultural, historical, and social contexts. It also explores didactic-pedagogical approaches, from literacy education to various fields of knowledge. The line investigates the formation of teacher identity through initial and continuous training, professional trajectories, and development, emphasizing the teacher’s role as a knowledge creator. Teacher education and pedagogical practices are seen as foundational components of the teaching and learning process.

Line 2 – Policies, Cultures, and Democratic Education

This line involves the study of political, social, historical, and cultural projects and actions, analyzed through the lens of Educational Sciences in response to the challenges of educational territories. It includes research on the relationship between the state, education, and society. Education is approached as a process of democratic social construction that recognizes diversity across dimensions such as class, race, gender, and social space, while also considering the economic and symbolic influences that emerge from the participation of educational agents.
